Spring Equinox

The lilac leaves have just started to open.
On March 20th,  the day and the night will be the same length and nature is awakening at last.

Tiny yellow flowers are appearing on branches everywhere... I've never seen so many.

Insects are coming out to warm their gossamer wings in the  sun

and flowers are starting to unfurl their petals.

Violets are pushing their way through the earth and bringing a note of gaiety among the browns of autumn.

Every day, something new is happening and unfolding...

The catkins by the pond are getting ready to release their pollen

and the deep blue sky shows off the first tree blossoms.
Rejoice
and be merry!
Spring is here again!

  2. Wonderful pictures. Such beautiful colours you have captured.
Spring is such a great time of the year. Lighter mornings and evenings, the weather (hopfully) getting warmer and all of these beautiful flowers.
    Thanks for sharing.

Yes, this time of the year is indeed wonderful for photographers - and it's nice to come out from behind the camera too to take it all in and become completely part of all the beauty nature offers us.

  9. Sandra, I must have my head in the sand to miss your spring post! Your spring photos and special words are magnificent! Your macro shows off such details on the tree buds, and that cute little gossamer winged insect! I love violets, and yours look so contrasty among the brown leaves and bits of green. The water reflection behind the catkins is lovely, cheerful, and hopeful. It's always a pleasure to see your work! Have a lovely weekend.
