The Joys of September

A beautiful book, so perfect for the season.
There are pages on crafting
and delicious recipes.
Most of all this book is full of wonderful art
designed by artist and writer

This is just the best time of the year for walks
and when I walk far enough away from my neighbourhood
I can escape the roads with traffic
and seek out little paths of greenery.

Following the sunlit railings and sundrenched grass
and hearing the scrunch of the gravel beneath my sneakers.

I do love to see the sun shining through the trees
and those first leaves turning to copper

A soft focus on dreamy leaves
just to set the mood of the moment

and something a little colourful along the way

The roses are still blooming
Aren't they wonderful?
But now it's time to go home to tea...

I baked a Peach Galette
with homemade shortcrust pastry.
It's very melt-in-the mouth
and a little tricky to get it neat looking
so I've gone for the casual homemade look!

You're invited too!
I've put two plates on the table outside
At a glance, I can get eight slices out of this galette
So don't be shy!

Here's your slice
with a blob of sour cream!

Happy September!

  1. Thanks for the slice, it looks so delicious!! Your autumn captures are just divine! I can't wait for the leaves around here to really turn colour and to get out with the camera. I love Susan Branch's blog, her artwork and individuality is stunning. Have a wonderful Sunday and don't eat too much of the Galette xx

  10. for some reason, I could only think of trees and leaves and that pumpkin spice drink everyone loves from starbuck which I almost hate - I'm not a fan of coffee nor pumpkin...

oh I love a piece of peach pie right about now -- pies -- what a sweet thought.

hope you have a lovely september.

    1. Thanks lissa. September is one of my favourite months. I don't know anything about a pumpkin spice drink! I am not a Starbucks fan! I feel that September may be a month that you might appreciate too - going by the colours that appear in your art!

    1. Thanks, Annie! We spend so much time and care getting sharp focus in our photos, but I love to do soft focus sometimes too! I'm looking out for another kind of fruit to make a new galette, so I'll be baking again soon!
