The Colour in Our Lives: Yellow

Colour is a form of energy
and plays an important part in our lives.
The colours we surround ourselves with
can effect our mood and the way we look at things.
How do you feel when you look at yellow?
Yellow is the most luminous of all colours. It fills us with optimism.
It helps us focus and see things in a different light.

It cries out for our attention!
It speaks to us of sunshine
and puts a spring in our step and brings out the cheerfulness in our disposition.
Just what we need after the neutral tones of winter.

When I add blue
it feels to me that the whole world is opening up to me
full of wonderful possibilities.
I feel joyful.
Do you?

Colour is very powerful
and it's good to remember this when we choose the colour schemes
in our homes and in the clothes we wear.

I know that when I crochet, I choose the colours that I need to see.
Today, I chose to make some flower coasters
to bring some sunshine into my home.
Yellow and blue and white
which remind me of buttercups and blue skies and fluffy white clouds!

Or with fresh green like new spring leaves and a touch of orange
for a radiating energy.

So if we choose our colours carefully each morning when we get dressed,
we slip into a robe of happiness which gives us
the vibrational qualities we need for our day.

Surrounding ourselves with colours that make us feel good
can change our whole outlook.
Try it when you're feeling blue!

Up the hill with tulips

The art of petals

The marvellous union of pink and green

Mysterious openings

Watercolour tones appear through my lens

A softer focus on my day

A vase of loveliness

and a single bloom against the light.

The turnaround

Rainy Saturday
Trudging up the hill from the shops
The shopping caddie is heavy
the other two bags are slipping from my grip
The umbrella is wobbling dangerously...
What a life!
I start to laugh at the situation
and this creates a turnaround in my way of seeing things!
With each new step,
I can see things in a completely different light

How lucky I am!
My shoes don't leak
I have the shops within walking distance
I have a shopping caddie with wheels
An umbrella to protect me from the heavy rain
I have a bunch of pink tulips in my bag.
And,
when I was chatting with an old friend over the phone later that day,
she reminded me that I had feet!
I
have
feet.

The Presence of Colour

Surrender

Presence

Flow

Follow the path before you

with simplicity.

As I bring my full attention to colour and form and flow
I enter and connect with these things on a vibrational level.

Have you ever noticed how different colours touch you differently?
These golden tones swirl around me like liquid sunshine
and the soft greens speak to me of new openings
and fresh beginnings
of moving forward in my life
in all that is important.

Life is like an abstract

It seems to me
that life is like an abstract
and we take out the parts that are superfluous
and concentrate on those we really want to see.

We encounter crossroads
and there are choices to be made

There are ups and downs and many learning curves

The sunlight filters in
bathing all in a joyful light
and we stop
to notice the beauty and the simplicity

pulling back a little
to see the bigger picture
and to notice how everything is so intricately connected.

Ever since I was a child,
I've been forever fascinated by the play of light and shadows
on the curtains against my windows.
Light and shade
One cannot exist without the other.
Add a little breeze from the open window
and just be still
to contemplate the ever-changing wonder before you.

Serenity

When city life seems drab
and noisy and grey

I take a bus or a train to contemplate
the beauties that are not far away at all.

although I live in the city
the mountains and the lake call out to me.

It is here that I come to resource myself
and it's best to choose a sunny day.

A little sailing boat glides over the calm water

and in the small port in the lakeside town of Vevey,
I love to stare at the reflections in the water.

Green and blue
the shapes change with the moving surface of the water.

A swan preens its feathers

and looks into the depth of the water

until a mate comes along.

a last look towards this end of  Lake Léman

and as I look at the sparkles on the water
I take home wonderful memories
of a sunny day by the lake
and find once again
my inner serenity.

The town of Vevey is where I lived when I first came to Switzerland.
It is barely a 15-minute train journey from where I live now
in the city of Lausanne.

A journey into abstracts

Seeing abstracts is like turning off the switch of recognition
as we enter a world of impressions

Curves and straight lines and colour
and depth given by the space in-between.
We stop wanting to interpret

and let ourselves be amazed and touched by the unexpected.

The simplest of shapes and textures
become a lesson in visual harmony.

Shadows and solid objects intermingle and create flow.

Reflections create surreal scenes that tell us stories of the unknown.

For me,
abstracts create a journey scattered with mystery and delight
I love not knowing where they will take me next.

Photo-Heart Connection: January

The countryside is my favourite place to be.
I love the sweet smell, the open air
and being able to see the sky and the fields
unhindered by city buildings.

Recently, when I was out walking in the country after rain,
I noticed how beautiful the puddles were with their mesmerizing reflections.
The wind was blowing gently and creating ripples on the surface of the water,
breaking up the reflections and creating abstract images.

I felt an immediate connection to these watery images
I could feel Nature's vibrations tingling with aliveness
and waking up every sense in my whole being.

Abstracts!
Who would have thought they could touch me so?
They possess an art form all of their own
and allow me to step into another dimension
like a breath of fresh air!
