Chiaroscoro
which means light/dark contrast.
This month's exercise in
"Exploring with a Camera"
is to try and capture the artistic technique of using light and dark
to render an object as three dimensional in two dimensional art.

Beautiful pictures!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, these are lovely. The light in the first four is just magical and the light/dark contrast really adds to the mood. Love the bakery window too (and well done for being there early enough to capture it!). Great set.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Becs, "magical!" Love the first two pictures, and really love the second- the lines of the trees and angles of the light are incredible, and your eye is just drawn to the one thinner tree that is illuminated with a slight hint of green... beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWow wow wow - these took my breath away!
ReplyDeleteWow, ganz fantastisch diese Fotoserie, mein grosses Kompliment an Dich!
ReplyDeleteHerzlichst Hans-Peter

ReplyDeleteWhew Sandra!!! You have really captured some amazing light!! These are just the most gorgeous photos yet! I totally agree, the first 4 are superb....fantastic work!! And you were up bright and early and found a pretty curtained window to capture indoor light shining - lovely! I hope the bakery was open and you got a nice little treat to enjoy. :)

ReplyDeleteGreat exploring with the camera- these chiaroscuro shots are amazing! Love the light in amongst the trees. (& it wasn't me who left the comment unknown:)

Oh Sandra, these are stunning pictures - every one of them. You are getting SO good at this. :))
ReplyDeleteThanks for your help with the Picasa problem I am having. I totally wasn't expecting this problem.
Just stunning, Sandra. Following the light is one of my favorite things.
ReplyDeleteI don't know enough words to describe these stunning images! Each one made me gasp, they are as Becs said "magical!"
ReplyDeleteSandra - oh, I am remiss in not stopping by your blog sooner! Your chiaroscoro examples are really quite stunning, especially the ones of sunbeams in the mist. You certainly took advantage of being in the right place at the right moment to capture such lovliness. Thank you for stopping by my blog and commenting - I really do appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteWhat were you doing up that early ;-) ?
ReplyDeleteKaunista valoa - hienoja sommitteluja.

Zdjęcia są wspaniałe, a szczególnie te, z promieniami światła. Pozdrawiam.
ReplyDeleteThe photos are great, especially the ones with the rays of light. Yours.
Sandra, these are really stunning images. I kept catching my breath as I saw each new example of light contrasts, culminating, I think, with your striking bakery window image. Hope the fare was as delicious as it was beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI took one of her classes a while ago - is that how we 'met'? What I took away most from the class was photographing at dawn/dusk and at night - I am really enjoying that time to photograph with the warm lights from windows. I LOVE your first photos in the woods - has such a unique quality about it and so mood evoking! Have a wonderful weekend, Sandra :)
ReplyDeleteThese photographs are just beautiful, Sandra!
ReplyDeleteI especially love the single leaf on the fence.
So nicely seen and photographed. Wonderful simplicity.
xo.

ReplyDeleteSandra ~ the drama that you've captured with the strong value contrasts is very striking! The first two and forth images are my favorites, as they are beautifully designed and full of mood. Altogether an impressive collection.... your work continues to amaze me as you leap forward in ever increasing huge steps!
ReplyDeleteHi Sandra!
ReplyDeleteIf it is something that I would like to develop more it is my skills on taking pictures. These pictures are very interesting... I will check out more about this Exploring with a camera thingy. Beautiful pictures. I can feel, smell, sense so much in every single picture. Thanks for sharing.
PS If you happen (for some reason...) to drive up my way I do have a guest appearance this afternoon and evening in Bassins at Spice Your Life, the Scandinavian shop I've talked about.
Ciao
