Catching the light

The weathercock points its beak in a mottled blue sky

and tones of yellow and gold and rich brown fill the woods

a lone leaf rests its golden head on the fence

and the beech leaves glint in the afternoon sun

The green grass receives an eiderdown of copper

and the wooden bench beckons as I turn back to go home

Down the hill, back to my neighbourhood and admiring the colourful Larch trees on the way.
I'm so fortunate and grateful to have all these lovely areas
within easy walking distance of the town in which I live.

  3. Love all the photos! What is the tree in the last photo - it looks like a fir tree but it can't be - the colour is wrong!

  4. You live in a beautiful place, Sandra. It all looks so inviting--the beautiful trees and paths, the light shining through the leaves, and the well worn bench. Thanks for the tour!

  5. These shots are so lovely - almost all our autumn colours are long gone and I didn't get nearly enough of them! That bridge photo is wonderful - I'd like to walk right into the picture and find out what's around the bend. :)

  7. Hi Sandra,
How fortunate you are to have beauty like this within walking distance. I, too, love to walk out my door and enjoy the gift of nature. You are making wonderful use of the 50mm! I feel that #1, 3, & 4 take particular advantage of the lenses' strengths - the quality sharp focus along with the option for very shallow depth of field. Beautifully seen and captured!
Hoping to talk more shortly (before our strong winds have the chance to take out the power!)
    Have a super weekend :)

  13. Wow!! You have captured such amazing autumn beauty Sandra! I just love the colors, and small leaves of the beech tree. The bridge image is spectacular! We have a few trees left with leaves, but now most are dark silhouettes. Enjoy the color this week!
