The Song of the Rose Fairy

"Best and dearest flower that grows,
Perfect both to see and smell;
Words can never, never tell
Half the beauty of a Rose...

Buds that open to disclose
Fold on fold of purest white,

Lovely pink,

or red that glows
Deep, sweet-scented. What delight
To be Fairy of the Rose."

Poem by Cicely Mary Barker

  1. Fantastic homage to this exquisite flower, Sandra! The third image, with the delicate pink edges on the bud is so beautiful, especially with the veins highlighted. I just love the colors of the last one -- is that a peace rose? Brava!

  2. These are absolutely lovely pictures - I can't pick a favoutite 'cause I love them all.
Roses are such beautiful flowers - my dad used to grown them when I was still living with them. There is nothing nicer than being able to cut roses from your own garden and putting them in a vase.
Hope you had a good day. :)

  3. Hi Sandra,
How perfect... roses are my favorite flower (and our daughter's middle name). All of these are lovely images, but the second white/cream one is the best capture, in my book! The lighting, focus, and composition are spot on - as photographers like to say. To me it symbolizes all that is pure and beautiful.
    Wishing you a super week.
P.S. you have good eyes, spying all the dragonflies and butterflies among my beadwork:)

  4. I love how you put words and images together so beautifully. All these images are lovely - I think the white rose and the and pink (3rd image) are my favourite (the light on the pink rose is amazing) but they are all gorgeous.

  6. Sigh! I'm so loving your photos of these roses! I know the white one is a very special rose, and it is so gorgeous! I'm so happy you captured it perfectly! It would be lovely in a frame on your side table. I can just smell the citrus fragrance coming from these. Have a lovely rest of the week Sandra! Hugs!
