Basking in the sun
and continuing the visit to the Iris Gardens
Feasting my eyes on every frill and curve
Protected from the wind
Gorgeous from all sides and posing in a Fleur-de-lis shape.
Fleur-de-lis means Lily Flower or Iris.
This flower was particularly associated with the French monarchy
and it remains an enduring symbol of France today.
Perfhaps my favourite for today, pert and pretty in the sun, swaying slightly in a gentle breeze
in a sea of green stalks and poetic golden sisters.
Tomorrow there will be a change of colour
In the meantime, drink in all the golden loveliness!
Such beautiful flowers - I was interested to read of the connection to the French monarchy!

These are just beautiful Sandra, and are extra special for me today, as it is quite gray here. :-(
ReplyDeleteThey make me think of warm summer days, and wonderful rays of sunshine.
Thank you for the Fleur-de-lis info. Surely have heard it, but never knew what it meant.
Beautiful shots of beautiful flowers.
ReplyDeleteI love that shade of yellow it is so pretty.
Definitely reminding us all of sunshine.
Have a good day.

My iris are all but done. Loving the frills and intense yellow of this one. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is really the sunshine flower -- love the contrast of the yellow against the green! Amazing shapes and lines in these irises. Thanks for the info on the flour-de-lis. So they are members of the lily family?
ReplyDeleteStupende queste tue fotografie, un giallo fantastico!! buona serata....ciao
ReplyDeleteJust happened on your blog and was captivated by the quality of your photographs! The irises look stunning!

Sandra, these are all so gorgeous. I love iris in any color, and especially the larger blooms. There is something special about the delicate ruffled petals that drape so gracefully, and also have such pretty fuzzies down the middle. Love the info about the fleur-de-lis, one of my favorite French words, and styles. I'll be anxiously waiting for other colors to be posted.
