Colour!
I've always enjoyed playing with colour
ever since I was a child.
Crochet!
I taught myself from a booklet
when I was expecting my first baby
born on July 5th
and that's today.
This preciously kept booklet only cost 35 cents when I bought it
in White Plains, New York in 1971.
A crochet hook
and a basket full of yarns make my fingers tingle
and want to create!
These are very large flowers
measuring 18cm across
(almost 7 inches)
I joined them all together to make a wall hanging
which creates a corner of happy colour
on a wall in my home.
These are so pretty, LOVE the colours. Crochet and I have not really gotten along very well in the past but you've really inspired me to have another go. Happy Friday. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, do have another go, Becs! You might surprise yourself and there's so much help out there in the form of tutorials for beginners. There was nothing like that at all when I learnt the basics from that little booklet I show above!
DeleteOooh, oooh . . . Sandra these are just beautiful and sooo colourful. What a great idea to attach them like that and hang them. Your crochet is SOOO neat!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend.

It's so much easier to learn to crochet these days. Wonderful tutorials exist, both on crochet lover's blogs and websites and even on youtube. I remember feeling very clumsy at first, and bit by bit I got the hang of it!
DeleteLove the crochet addition to the blog Sandra! And what a perfect day to post about it!! I love your wall hanging, and love how you still have that original booklet! I hope we get to see more crochet! :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!!

How colourful, happy and creative! I never really tried this those years ago when I was learning to sew and knit. But it's a cool craft. Lovely work!
ReplyDeleteSo fun to see this complete, Sandra! Love how you've combined the varied range of colors - successful and beautiful! You'll have "summer" in your living space all year round :)
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
Love your idea for the giant flowers, Sandra! And your colors are inspiring! You get 'tingly fingers' and I am getting the 'itching palms' just looking at your yarn in it's basket! It makes me want to rub my hands together, push up my sleeves and get busy creating! Isn't it fun?! Hey, just realized your basket is crocheted! I haven't tried that sort of project yet! You are inspiring me! Beautiful job, that wall hanging! And I like your blog. It is very peaceful.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that crocheted basket lovely? I received it as a birthday present this year!
DeleteThank you for your visit Maschelle!
Such pretty designs and wonderful colors, Sandra! You make it sound so easy, but not all of us have your talent. What a creative way to brighten your decor.
ReplyDeleteHi Sandra, thanks for your comment on my blog.
ReplyDeleteYour crochet flowers are really pretty, the soft tones of the colours work beautifully together. And I really like the way you joined them to make a wall hanging.
