Keeping cool

Water and the fresh green of ivy

Can you reach the waterfall with your fingers?

Feel the freshness on your face

" Under heaven nothing is more soft and yielding than water.
Yet for attacking the solid and strong, nothing is better
It has no equal.
The weak can overcome the strong
The supple can overcome the stiff."
(Lesson seventy-eight, Tao Te Ching)

Shallow water to cool our hot feet

Can you feel the little wavelets lapping around your ankles?
During the hot, hot days of summer
there is nothing better than water to energize us once again.

A book to read:
This is a book of wisdom written by Lao Tsu.
It is thought to have been written in the sixth century B.C.

How are you keeping cool these days?

  1. Those water images are so refreshing, Sandra! My fave is the shallow water pic....its abstract quality makes it very mysterious. The water fall is like a pane of wavy glass. Our weather is so cool here I'm happy to send some clouds and fog your way!

  2. ...herrlich erfrischende Foto`s! ;o))

  3. I can almost hear that water from here, Sandra.
Our heat wave has broken now, and the last many days have been beautiful.
You can tell that summer is winding down though. The greens change quite dramatically.
    Happy day to you!

  4. Reading and absorbing your beautiful post has revived my senses, thank you Sandra! And I love lesson 78!
    Wishing you well!

  5. Your water images are so refreshing and relaxing. It's certainly not easy keeping cool! Sometimes when I'm outside, I take my shoes off and soak my feet with the water hose!

  6. Beautiful, cooling water...stand in the rain today. Lol

  7. Wonderfully watery pictures here Sandra. Very cooling indeed. We have water coming down from the sky today!

  8. the water looks SO refreshing and clear - good enough to drink! The temps have finally dropped a little here thank Goodness although I still feel bad for my little furry dog!

  9. Excellent water photos! Makes me wish I could go dip my toes right now!

  10. So lovely. That shallow water is just beautiful. We'll be needing this tomorrow, up to 32 apparently. Time to get the paddling pool out again (not quite as beautiful as your lovely pictures)!

  11. Thanks for your nice words's good to be back again.

    Your pictures are again beautiful,
i would say " keep it cool " these hot days.

    greetings, Joop

  12. I was in need of something cool and refreshing... and this beautiful water-themed post was ideal! What a gorgeous curtain of water, and I want to paddle in the shallow water. Enjoy your insightful book and have a relaxing and refreshing weekend!

  13. Wonderful post Sandra. Keeping cool, swiming in the fjords round where we live, which is on the swedish westcoast north of Göteborg.
    Keep cool :-))

  14. What a refreshing spot and a refreshing post. I'm not sure I know another book whose teachings are so profound and subtle...they always inspire and calm me...

  15. Nothing better than water and Lao Tzu to keep you cool.
