More photos from Lavey-les-Bains following the first part here:
Pine Branches against a late summer sky.
There were many beautiful trees in the grounds of the hotel.
Colourful fluffy clouds and birds flying high before the morning sun hit the mountain range.
The sun is arriving
At last the rich colours start to show as the sun illuminates the higher peaks.
So many interesting clouds at different times of the day.
I liked these in pink and gold.
Sitting on a bench in the grounds to read my book-
It's called : 'Standing in the Rainbow' by Fannie Flagg.
A charming story of people and their connections with each other in a small town
called Elmwood Springs in Missouri, U.S.A.
I'm also crocheting rainbows to make a garland and here are the first three!
I saw this hollowed out tree trunk full of treasures from nature
The mountains are extremely steep in some parts
and I prefer to admire them from afar rather than climb them!
Watching the sunset from the hotel room
and getting a last glimpse of an illuminated tip of a mountain,
the Dent de Morcles
which can also be seen in the preceeding blog entry.
These beautiful white flowers were in hanging terracotta pots along the covered terrace.
Just for fun!
As I passed a metal sculpture in the hotel on my way to the spa,
I had to laugh at my deformed image!
I think my next blog entry may be about flowers
there are still so many beauties blooming in this late summer period before autumn sets in.
Another thoroughly enjoyable blog post, Sandra! I so love the mountains and the colors of the sky and clouds that you've captured. It's funny, but I took an almost identical photo to your second one of the bright blue sky as seen through the pine needles when we were in southern California in July. I'll have to post it one of these days :) I've always enjoyed Fannie Flagg books, too, and your little rainbow crochet is adorable. Where will you hang the garland when it is finished?
ReplyDeleteI hope your week is filled with more beautiful sights ♥
I'm so glad you enjoyed the mountains and those lovely skies, Carol. I love Fannie Flagg's style of writing, it's so warm and makes me feel part of the story!
DeleteI have several ideas of where I'll be putting the rainbow garland. I'll be showing it when it's finished!
We're off for a little escapade to the vineyards this week, so I'm sure I'll be showing pictures of that this month. The weather forecast is good!
What lovely, refreshing photos of mountains, trees, flowers, and sky. (And crochet!) I particularly loved the hollow tree trunk full of treasures. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sue. It's a beautiful area and I do love finding little treasures in nature that I saw in that hollow tree trunk!
DeleteAnother beautiful, tranquil post with some dramatic mountain photo's. I love coming over to see your blog to see your wonderful photo's and read your calming words. Loving the rainbow crochet too.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sarn xxx
Thanks, Sarn. It's always so nice to have you visit!
DeleteAs always an enjoyable post to read and to follow your images. I can also see you are good at crocheting, that will be beautiful !
ReplyDeleteAs always, so nice to have you visit, Lasse! Crochet is something I really enjoy doing, after photography!
DeleteI have not seen any pink & gold clouds before, it's lovely.
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking I'll get around to learning crocheting but I never seem to have the will. Seeing your work is the next best thing. The rainbow garland looks great.
Have a lovely day.
I love it when the clouds take on amazing colours thanks to the setting or rising sun! I love to crochet all the year round, but especially in the winter months when it's less hot! If you felt like trying crochet sometime, there are excellent beginner books and tutorials on YouTube or crochet sites. You might want to try! It's another way of working with colour combinations!
DeleteThank you for visiting, Lissa!
We can see you are having such a good time! Beautiful photos as always Sandra! Hope you have a wonderful weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteSo lovely to have you visit, as always! We are getting a return to warm, even hot weather again, so that is lovely for getting out and about, but the rivers and nature need water.
DeleteYes, here too! It's still summer here in the South! Enjoy and continue to blog the beauty you find in where ever you go!
ReplyDeleteI will enjoy the prolonged summer and I have a new mini getaway to add to the blog later this month!
DeleteThe mountains were gorgeous from sunrise to sunset! I love how the slow moving sun illuminated just a part of the mountain at a time. Love your rainbow banner. I've read some books by Fannie Flagg, but haven't read this one. I'm needing something to read, so maybe I'll see about getting this one!
ReplyDeleteIt was so lovely to be near these mountains for a couple of days and we were blessed with marvellous weather to witness the start and the colourful end to each day (which I cannot see from where I live). I think you would love this Fannie Flagg book, I've just started another!
