The month of October this year has been beautifully sunny for the most part
and also rather warm until recently.
I wanted to share the wonderful colours that I've enjoyed in my area
often in my own neighbourhood.
This first photograph was taken in the park called Mont Repos
which is in Lausanne and only a 20-minute walk from where I live.
The golden leaves in the background are Tulip Trees.
Here is one of the paths in the park
lined with those beautiful trees.
The park is so beautiful with all the autumn chrysanthemum plants coming into bloom.
The warm colours make me feel happy!
The leaves are falling with the recent wind and rain and soon the trees will be bare
showing the lovely shapes of their trunks and branches.
The Maple leaves take on their bright tones of red and orange.
Cherry Tree leaves catch the sunlight
before floating down and sometimes getting caught in fences.
Big American oak leaves and Beech create their own beauty when they land
on the granite path.
Closer to home, a local Tulip Tree frames a pale blue sky
In my own tree-lined street, the leaves gather on the pathways
making everything so beautiful.
I was walking down my street in the rain one day and saw this little leaf
which had moulded itself on the door handle of a dark blue car.
Another rainy day and a different kind of leaf had landed on a black car.
The lovely reflected colours on the shiny door are the leaves on the ground.
A rusty fence was embellished by this vine turning a colour which seemed to match the rust.
I was waiting for the bus to come home after an afternoon out and just caught this beautiful lighting
just before sunset.
By standing on tiptoes, I could capture a fine strip of lake and the mountains
The last photo is a still life to honour today.
It is All Hallows' Eve.
What is now known as 'Halloween' is a name that means nothing in itself.
It's a contraction of 'All Hallows' Eve'.
It designates the vigil of All Hallows' Day, which is November 1st,
often known as All Saints' Day.
I have spoken about putting up some photos of a lovely escapade I did in October,
but it will be for another day!
Hard to believe October has gone. These last three days the skies were filled with thousands of cranes on their way south. To me this is always a sign that autumn is over too. Gloomy and dark days ahead, let's light the candles!
ReplyDeleteOctober has been a really beautiful month - as you can see by these photos taken in the lovely autumn lighting. As you can see, I'm already lighting my candles! I always light one for breakfast too in the kitchen!
ReplyDeleteYour autumn has been beautiful! Those mums in the park are gorgeous! We're still very green here since temperatures have been so warm. The last two nights have been cold, so maybe a little color will begin to show.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cathy. Yes, our autumn has been really beautiful and colourful. Now we have rain and wind and that will bring many of the lovely leaves down. It has turned quite cold too and we're back into jackets and even scarves!
DeleteHow lucky you are to be surrounded by all these lush autumn colors, Sandra! And how much precision and intense observation when you capture the images and the smallest details! I had always wondered about the meaning of the word Halloween. In fact here, in Spain, it is called All Saints' Day (Día de Todos los Santos) and October 31 is All Saints' Day Eve. Have a wonderful new month ahead!
ReplyDeleteYes, the colours have been fabulous and many of these photos have been taken down in the park and quite a few from my neighbourhood and in my street!
DeleteAs in Spain, Switzerland has the same nominations for October 31 and November 1. Today is All Saints' Day when many people go to the cemeteries to take flowers and candles. It is a day for remembering and for showing our continued love and respect to those who have left the physical realm to continue their journey in a new state of being.
Autumn is glorious isn't it? You've captured it beautifully in your lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Hugs, Sarn xxx
Thanks, Sarn. I do love the warm and joyful colours of the season before winter sets in!
ReplyDeleteThose tree colors are quite nice. I especially like the leaves stuck on car doors. The leaves photos reminds me, yesterday, there was a fallen leaf curled up at my window sill which was lovely though the leaf was dried and the orange hued faded but it really was nice to see it. Your photos are lovely as always.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day.
Thank you, lissa. It's a beautiful time of the year for colour, but the wind and rain now will change the look of everything. I loved finding those two leaves which had fallen, and stuck, on the car doors on different days! You found the beauty of a dried leaf on your window sill. That is always a lovely discovery!
DeleteSandra your photography takes my breath away . . . you are a true artist. Thank you for sharing your walk in the rain with us. Absolutely beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteWishing you a lovely season of color.
Connie :)
So nice to have you visit, Connie. So glad you enjoyed the lovely autumn colours and shapes we are seeing here right now! Now we are in wind and rain mode, so that will change the aspect of things and bring many more of the beautiful leaves down.
DeleteSo glad your October was warm and sunny, Sandra... We had the same, but I am hearing the s-n-o-w word is in the forecast for Thursday. It seems far too early for that in our part of the world :)
ReplyDeleteYour leafy photos are absolutely gorgeous. The colors are so vivid and truly symbolize autumn. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to your next post. Happy November!
DeleteThank you, Carol. Yes, the colours have been wonderful, but now the rain and wind have come and that will definitely change the look of things. Winter is on its way! Amazing that you might be getting some snow already. I have seen fresh snowfalls in some parts of the US already. It may not settle for too long though!
Lovely photos and the colors are amazing! Thanks again! Hope you are doing well.
