My Balcony Garden - June 2019

Today, I'm going to take you into my garden!
The month of June is a good time to see all the lovely colours and flowers
in my Balcony Garden!
These beautiful yellow Primula were planted at the beginning of March
and they have done marvellously well.

A huge favourite of mine are Gaillardia flowers, sometimes called Blanket Flowers.
I had them for the first time two years' ago
but couldn't find them last year.
I did buy three beautiful plants downtown in the Flower Market this year though.
Aren't the buds so full of lovely details?

So charming too when the petals start to form

They are doing so well

and the bees adore them.

I can see why!

My lovely purple Campanula, or Bellflowers, have been coming back for years
in a very big terra cotta pot.

So lovely to have this colour among the warmer tones.

My Edelweiss flowers are doing so well. Most of them are still in bud form.
I still need to find some blue Gentian to keep them company.

The Zinnias are looking lovely.
Three different colours in the same window box

Red

Yellow

Pink

Surrounded by deep blue Lobelia

and white Alyssum

There are dark pink and lighter pink Geraniums

There are peachy pink Begonia

and darker Begonia with frilly petals

My hydrangea, my Mother's Day gift, are turning pink

Aren't those tiny central flowers amazing?

Here is the view from one side of my balcony overlooking the road below.
I was happy to see how much greenery I can see, despite my urban environment.

I'm ending up with a collage of my geraniums that you can see in the photo of my balcony.
I hope that you have enjoyed this colourful visit of all the flowers that make me happy
every year.
Having a balcony makes living in a town very much more bearable.
In fact, I have the best of both worlds really
with all the useful shops and other amenities in my direct neighbourhood
and the joy of seeing so much green and having the possibility of
growing all these flowers outside.

Do you like growing flowers and plants?
Perhaps you have your favourites too.

The August Break 2016: Part four

THREE
Day 24

Three marbles.
What can I say?
I have loved them since I was a child
and still do.

PEACEFUL
Day 25

Quiet waters
shady trees
and a walk around the lake.

ORANGES
Day 26

Seville orange
perfect for making marmalade
not too sweet
and very delicious!

LITTLE
Day 27

My tiniest jug
and the tiniest  aster flowers
growing on my balcony garden.

I AM...
Day 28

I am...
zinnia
with many layers
joyful and vibrant
sometimes reserved
with a tender heart
and a poetic soul
enjoying the moment
seeking beauty wherever I am.

 FAVOURITE MUG
Day 29

In my kitchen cupboard,
I only have mugs that I really like
and I use them all.
However,
this one with the butterfly decoration
is my favourite breakfast mug.
It was given to me by my son many years ago
and he knew that the symbolism of butterflies
was important to me.

The butterfly is a symbolism of transformation
because of its impressive process of metamorphosis.
The butterfly is also associated with the human soul.

EVENING LIGHT
Day 30

AUGUST WAS...
Day 31

August was...
Slow moving
Colourful
Outdoor terraces
Parasols
Sparkling water
Lake crossings
Golden light
Walks before dawn
Languid
Forever changing
Beautiful
and
the hottest month of August I have ever known!

Here we are at the end of The August Break
It has been fun for me to do
The prompts have nudged my creativity!
Thank you to all of my visitors
for coming along!

Noticing the Moments

The orange-pink hues filtered their luminous colour through my blinds when I got up at my usual early hour. On opening my blinds, I was greeted by this wonderful sunrise sky.

Savouring the moment in my kitchen at coffee time. My favourite time of the day when I watch the early morning light give me a moving show of light and shadows
and a lesson in awareness.

I opened the kitchen door and saw how a golden crown of florets had opened on my pink zinnia. What a marvel to observe such detail.

After a couple of weeks of heatwave, the thunder grumbled towards the evening
and I went for a walk with my umbrella.
I started off alongside some gardens
and loved listening to the pitter-patter of rain on the umbrella.

Noticing the reflections in the puddles
and smiling at the umbrella reflected in the wet pavement.

On one side of the sky, the crescent moon rose in the deepening purple hues

I prolonged my walk and was rewarded by this view as I came over the hill
I could see the mountain tops, appearing blue in the disappearing light.
Generous clouds in a luminous shade of pink rolled across the horizon.

Noticing the moments is one of the nicest things we can offer ourselves every single day.
Do you notice yours?

After taking a blog break, I felt the need to simplify and not overthink what I share here during the months of July and August. So I'm leaning towards something spontaneous and intuitive
and hope you will join me along the way.
