This month's theme for our November self-portrait linky party is:
"I am grateful"
There are so many things
that I am grateful for
but
one thing which comes instantly to my mind is this:
I am grateful for clean and plentiful water
to drink
to wash in
to cook with
to brush my teeth.
I am grateful that I do not have to walk for hours
with a heavy container balanced on my head
to fetch water from a distant well.
I've thought of this many times lately! I love your image! Beautiful processing!
ReplyDeleteI'm (extremely) grateful for that too. How hard it must be to have to seek out water and how lucky we are to have it running cold and clean in the house.
ReplyDeleteWhat a striking image. The effect you used is well matched to your theme.
Water, truly something to be grateful for :D Although in the amounts we currently have it Wales 'tis a bit excessive. Our house is on high ground but the area is on major flood alert!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post. I've been looking through some of your photos and you are so talented! I keep going back to look at the sunbeams!
ReplyDeleteYes, so true! We are lucky, aren't we? Right now Californians are fighting over water rights -- the North has most of the water, and the southern part of the state most of the population. Whose water is it -- that's the question! Great blue tones in your image!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post, Sandra! We truly are blessed to have fresh, clean, usable water. I love the water-color type processing used on your photo, and you wore blue to resemble water - it's all perfectly done and said! Have a really lovely day today!!
ReplyDeleteThis is so true, and something a lot of us just take for granted! Nice photo too of course!!

Beautiful -- you convey the icy cold water so well.
ReplyDeleteI've changed my settings, Sherry. Hopefully it will be easier for you when you come in next time to leave a comment.
DeleteAmen to that! We are especially grateful for plenty of hot running water at this time of year.
ReplyDeleteLove what you did with this photo. :)
Hey I can post a comment now. Thanks, Sandra!
ReplyDeleteOne of the many, many things we take for granted.
ReplyDeleteExcellent choice Sandra, and I love the processing on this image!
A great post...sometimes we take the little things for granted. I'll be putting the linky party up on Friday morning and it will be open until 12/6. Hope to see you there if you can link up when you return from your trip!

And water is something that we often take for granted, until your city water department has to fix a line and you have none. I love this image and your beautiful edit to it, LOVE IT!
