Flowery Interlude

Where do the days go?
Since my return from England, life has been so busy and I'm not quite ready
to put up my photos from England.
So I thought that a flowery interlude would be something nice to do!
This sunflower is growing in my neighbourhood.

The back view is just as beautiful!

A Magnolia bud discovered on a tree when walking up the hill to the local
Farmer's Market.

A joyful encounter!
Several tall stems of Hollyhocks have been planted by the roadside
at the base of one of the young trees along the road.

A Campanule growing in a planter.
Every single flower I see in town is a real joy to me!

My lavender on the balcony is preparing for a second blooming.
It has been wonderful this year.

A tiny flower among the petals on one of my Gaillardia blooms.
The bees just love these.

For the first time this year, I planted some Coneflowers.
botanical name: Echinacea.
They are very vibrant in colour and represents perfectly
the hot weather we are having right now.
Our heatwave is building up and by mid-week it will reach 34C (93.2F) in this area.
I avoid going out in the middle of the day and am thankful to have fans
in my living room and office here.

Now I need to get out for my early morning walk before the sun comes over the hill!

The little ant.
I added this photos after my walk.
The sun came up rather soon after I left home and I must get out earlier
to enjoy the cooler air.
I did love the sun shining behind this sunflower, showing up the lovely details.
Click on the photos to enjoy a full-screen view.

I'll be back with some highlights of England
when things are a little less busy
and hopefully,
a little cooler!

I hope you're enjoying summer wherever you live.
Remember to drink lots of water!

    1. Thanks so much, Connie. There is plenty of green around right now, but less flowers, so I seek them out purposely to enjoy their colours to the full!

  2. What beautiful flower photo's Sandra. I'm glad you had a good trip to England. Look forward to seeing the photo's when you have time.

Getting HOTTER this week, not cooler . . . still, not complaining, love the sunshine (just hate the humidity!). Meant to be 30 tomorrow, then 32 on Thursday!

I also have Cone Flowers in my garden this year . . . . lovely magenta petals and choc brown stems . . . absolute stunner. xxx

  5. The pictures of the sunflowers are so beautiful! We've got Echinaceae too (three or four plants - mostly golden). It's definitely too hot. 37°C predicted today - if only I could stay home from day job - I have to get out (from one building into the other and back again) 3-4 times per hour, through the sunshine and the heat... URGH!... Keep cool!

    1. Thank you!
Yes, it is definitely too hot and it's going to be hotter today and tomorrow before storms come to break the overheated cycle. All we can do is to drink lots of water and freshen our faces and arms often with water sprays.

  6. Sunflowers have always been one of my favorite summer flowers! I love the textures of them and the repetitive seeds. We've had a cooler week, but I wasn't able to get out and enjoy it. Hoping this week will be nice as well!

  7. Thank you, Cathy. Sunflowers are one of my favourites too, for all the reasons you mention! They are such joyful flowers! It's cooler here this week too, so far! The storms and rain helped and we had two deliciously cool nights and were able to sleep properly again!

  9. Stunning, stunning floral shots, Sandra--I especially love the sunflowers (both sides!). Our garden has not done well as it got way to dry during our Europe trip. Oh, well--fall will be upon us very soon anyway! Have a wonderful week ahead :)

    1. Thank you, Carol. It's so lovely to capture the colourful flowers of the season, we shall miss them during the winter months! Sorry to hear that your garden has not done well due to your absence in Europe. We have had very dry and very hot periods here too and I have had to water some of my plants twice a day! Of course, they dry out quicker in window boxes and big pots rather than those planted in gardens.

We are getting a few storms and rain in-between the hot and humid days. This is very frequent in August when the heat builds up.
